Thinking about Fostering?

 

If you love dogs but aren’t in a position to adopt, fostering is a fantastic way to help! Fostering saves lives—by providing a temporary home, you give dogs a chance to find their forever families. At Trogers TRD Rescue, we rely on the kindness of fosters to help us save as many Thai Ridgebacks as possible. If you’re interested in providing a loving environment for a dog while we find them a permanent home, we’d love to hear from you.

 

How Our Program Works

 

When a Thai Ridgeback needs rescue, we coordinate transportation to either our rescue or directly to a foster home. We aim to match each dog with the right foster family based on existing pets, family dynamics, and any special needs.

 

**Application Process:**

1. **Apply Early:** We encourage you to fill out the foster application below, even before a dog is ready to be placed. This helps us prepare and ensures we can quickly respond to new rescues.

2. **Approval:** Once approved, we’ll contact you to let you know you’re foster application has been approved and will later contact you when we have a dog that suits your home.

 

Many of the dogs may be scared and disoriented upon arrival, so your nurturing environment is vital.

 

Veterinary Care

 

All dogs in our rescue will be:

- Spayed or neutered when age appropriate

- Vaccinated (Rabies, Distemper/Parvo, Bordetella)

- Heartworm tested

- Microchipped, if not currently

- Given baseline bloodwork

 

As a foster, you will be responsible for taking your foster dog to vet appointments, but Trogers TRD Rescue covers all medical expenses. We’ll work to find a vet near you and will coordinate all necessary treatments.

 

Evaluation and Training

 

During your time with the foster dog, you will:

- Learn about their temperament and needs

- Work on basic training commands

- Provide a written evaluation and biography, along with photos, for our website within the first 30 days

 

After the dog is posted on our website, we’ll begin accepting adoption applications. While the foster family isn’t directly involved in the adoption process, your feedback will be crucial in finding the best match for your foster dog.
